Arabian horned viper

The Arabian horned viper (Cerastes gasperettii) is a beautiful small viper which can either have horns or be hornless. This particular specimen was found near the coast within Abu Dhabi Emirate. They are ambush type predators so they move quite quickly over the sand.

A short movie clip of this species side-winding can be viewed at the following link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuGGNPHIRTo
